This is the hill where a woman holding an infant appeared high on 24 June 1981. Two girls have seen her. Instinctively, they knew it was the Virgin Mary, but they did not approach her. They and four other children felt called to return the next day, and Our Blessed Mother drew them to her, effortlessly transporting them up the mountain, over boulders and thorny bushes. The Blessed Mother introduced herself as the Queen of Peace. They fell to their knees and began to pray. She prayed with them and promised to return the next day. This is the place very every pilgrim come and pray.

Križevac hill is a mount above Medjugorje (520 m) where on March 15, 1934, the parishioners constructed a concrete cross 8.56 m high, built in remembrance of the 1900 years since the death of Jesus. On the cross is written: “To Jesus Christ, Redeemer of the human race, as a sign of their faith, love and hope, in remembrance of the 1900 years since the death of Jesus.
It is peaceful place where every pilgrim come and pray.

The construction of the old parish church was completed in 1897, soon after the creation of the parish (1892). It was a spacious and beautiful construction for its time. Built on unstable ground, it soon started to develop fissures. Immediately after the end of the First World War, the parishioners began to think about building a new church. Construction lasted from 1934 until January 19, 1969, when it was consecrated.
St James Church is today the focus and the centre of both sacramental and prayer life, not only for the parishioners, but also for pilgrims.
A fenced-in park situated within the traffic circle at the east side of the Shrine reminds us of the place where the old parish church once stood.

Risen Christ, a bronze statue is an masterpiece from slovenian artist Andrej Ajdic which has been placed ,
for Easter 1998, behind the St James church.
This place is perfect for prayer with groups or individual and it is surrounded by the Stations of the Cross.
From right knee of this sculture for some period leaks continuously liquid similar to tears, which not evaporate or freeze. It is possible to see it at any time of day or night. Many of pilgrims tearing this tears with tissue from Risen Christ and bringing it to sick people from all over the world. Some of pilgrims say it is from Jesus Christ . Might be or might be not but gest is very simobolic and touching. We can think that Virgin Mary- Queen of Peace has called us to Medjugorje to wipe Jesus Christ tears. Instead that we wipe his tears he wipes ours.
From scientific point of view this was analysed by qualified persons. Recently professor Giulio Fanti teacher of thermal and mechanical measurements from University of Padova ( Italy ) after having observed and studied this case declared:
“ liquid that come from statue is water 99 percent, and contains traces of calcium, iron, potassium, magnesium, sodium, sulphur and zinc. About half of the scructure is empty inside and as bronze shows micro cracks and I think that drops of tears are fruit of air exchanges. But it has also clerly very singular elements, statue leaks 1 litar of water for one day which is 33 time’s more than it should be by normal calculations. It’s inexplicable even if we take 100 % of air humidity. We also noticed that that this drops if allowed to dry on side have particular crystallisation that is wery different than normal water.
The questions on this issue remains. And even by admitting that this is very normal water you can ask yourself: Jesus may not make miracles through normal ? And for the rest, famous water of Lourdes is normal water and also there is a lot of healing…..
