Sightseeing

Billed as one of the largest metropolitan parks in the nation, Point Defiance has some really nice views from the roadways (which are open only to pedestrians many hours of the day), hiking trails and beaches. “Five Mile Drive” is a great loop through the park that I love to run when it’s closed to car traffic. Owen Beach is a nice Northwest beach that has picnic areas, a waterfront promenade to walk, and lots of sealife to view.

Years ago what’s now Point Ruston was home to the ASARCO smokestack and copper smelter. After decades of demolition and cleanup, the site is now a fantastic gem of residential commercial mixed use development. Shops, restaurants, a movie theatre, hotel, playground and surrey bike rentals await.

Yes, it's a thing, and it's kinda cool. The Museum of Glass has some very unique exhibits and you can even try your own hand at glass blowing!
