This hike is located in the Pisgah National Forest and hands down my favorite in the area. It is 5.8 miles out and back with an elevation gain of 1,722 ft. It is strenuous, so bring water and snacks. The view from the top is absolutely breathtaking. ***This goes without saying, but please be very careful at the top of both John Rock and Looking Glass. It is a 200+ ft drop to the bottom so please use caution!

The Arboretum is home to native plants and trees of the Southern Appalachian region. It is stunning in the spring and summer, but the fall is quite beautiful as well. If you are in town around the holidays, check out the Winter Lights! It is quite the spectacle, especially for the kiddos.

Along the French Broad River, you’ll find art studios, ceramic studios, glassblowing and more. The River Arts District is a must-see for the art lover. It is also home to several of our favorite local breweries (The Wedge, Wedge Foundation, High Wire, and Pleb Winery).
