Super close to the house!! This may not be the fanciest barbecue in town, but it's closeby, the price is right, and it's dang good. Plus the fun family-style tables and the all-you-can-eat pickles and condiments makes this a great visit!

Just a couple exits away is an iconic Austin eatery: Kerbey Lane Cafe. With an all-day brunch menu, plus salads to die for, Kerbey Lane is the best place when you've got the munchies. We love their Migas with Kerbey queso, their gingerbread or lemon poppyseed pancakes, and Nabil's Mid-EAst Feast salad. Another one of those places where everything on the menu is delicious, though!!

I can't recommend donuts without mentioning Round Rock Donuts!!! If you want to try one of the most delicious, melt-in-your-mouth donuts, or one of the tastiest jalapeno sausage & cheese kolaches EVER, then it's worth the drive to one of their locations! This is the original bakery in Round Rock, but there is a new one opened in Cedar Park now that doesn't have nearly as long of a wait in line. Trust me. This is worth effort, but be sure to eat them while they're hot...as with all things, they taste best fresh out of the oven like that!! Regular glazed donuts and large jalapeno cheese kolaches. Don't bother with the small ones. They aren't as good. If you're feeling festive, they have a HUGE donut that's as big as a pizza as well, but it's hard to beat the regular sized ones! YUM!

A trip to Austin would not be the same without a visit to the freezing cold springs inside Zilker Park. Barton Springs is the heart of the park, and is such a fun experience, especially on a hot Texas day! The shallow end is warmer, but this natural spring (with all its rock and mossy bottom) is really quite cold in the deeper waters. Memories will be had by all!!
