Jaco Beach has a huge selection of restaurants and some Sodas (small Mom and Pop restaurants) Outside the gate to CoCo 54 Villas Paraiso is the ISAGA restaurant, known for good local dishes. Down toward Pastor Dias Avenue from Salt N Sea is a good breakfast place Sunrise Breakfasts (across the street) and a buffet style lunch/dinner place on the corner. Resturant Garabito is a local favorite great for families too. Sushi is well represented and Coffee Shops abound . We enjoy so many restaurants in Jaco Walk on Pastor Diaz near the main highway. The nearest food market is behind the KFC --Super Maxi is excellent. Bigger food markets like Mas y Menos and smaller food markets line the main avenue.
Tsunami Sushi $$ has 2 for one on Wed and Fri. Diablo Burgers and Mikkonos $$ provide excellent steak burgers or a choice of Greek delights. Garabito restaurant down from Pops is a Tico huge buffet $ outside CoCo 54 gate down toward the beach is Soda Isaga $ Jerah $$ for Thai, near MonteCarlo Salt N Sea is tanger on the beach $$ ...Lots to see and enjoy!

this is really good Thai, Asian food. A bit pricy but fresh. Just outside the gates to Villas Paraiso, an easy walk from Salt N Sea.

Manual Antonio National Park about an hour or so from Jaco Beach is famous for good reason. Tours arranged or drive yourself. Book ahead and definitely get a guide at park entrance. A must do!!

Next to Jaco Beach toward San Jose is a huge surfing area. Lovely place to explore and watch or surfif you are really good! Jaco Beach has safer surfing with lessons too!

Respect toward others is a keystone toward enjoying this Happiest place on Earth. Smiling, friendly attempts to speak a bit of Spanish is greatly appreciated. Restaurant tips are included in your bill unless posted BUT we always leave a bit extra in the envelope or under a plate. Be kind, its the Tico Way! Ours too!

Rental cars and Tours in Costa Rica
Car rental is expensive and very very difficult to get last minute. We have a car to loan. Bring copy of car and health insurance. Shop for your Tour company for excursions. Ask your host if they have some special recommendations. Plan ahead!
Bus service is cheap and comfortable! Check routes for best times to travel by bus. Taxis available everywhere!

Sodas are not a beverage! Sodas are smaller often Mom and Pop restaurants that serve good substantial fare, beverages. They are everywhere and worthy of attention. Outside Villas Paraiso is Isaga bar restaurant. Good!! Soda Garabito has a buffet style offering great worker, family, budget shopper fair. Tours~ especially on shoulder season, tours will be discounted AND you can always contact a Tour Operator and ask to be added at last minute for a discount. Be polite and kind. Particularly good if you have already done one tour with a company..

Money exchange
Never at the airport! For taxis from airports American dollars are accepted. Try to get your bank to allow you an account with NO transaction fees and use that bankcard at the many ATMs. There is a limit to how much you can withdraw daily. You will get conversion to colons from ATM. Most larger places accept US dollars at bank rate . Use credit cards, often accepted but watch for foreign transaction fees added. Check your Credit card company first..
