Parks & Nature

Beautiful beach, and tons of restaurants/bars/shopping all along it. Since it is the most touristy beach around this area it does get packed with people though, especially during spring break, so be mindful of that.

This beautiful park has two distinct areas—a beach and a park. The beach area is larger like Clearwater, but it is surrounded by the park making it feel more cut off from the many condos, hotels, and restaurants surrounding Clearwater beach.

A 50 minute drive away, but so worth it! The largest park within the Pinellas County Park System, this park consists of 1136 acres made up of five interconnected islands. It is named after the historic fort that you can self tour on the island. We definitely recommend heading down to the very end of the North Beach. Just a few minutes of walking along the beach continuing North takes you to one of the most secluded beach areas, with beautiful blue waters.

If you have the time to make a day of it, I would strongly recommend driving to Weeki Wachee to kayak. It is about an 1 hour and 15 minute drive. Call before to see if a reservation is needed and rent kayaks from Boating in Florida located at Weeki Wachee Springs State Park. You will start out kayaking at the headspring- where the spring water is crystal clear, and then you will drift down stream for a few hours. They will shuttle you back when you get to the end of the spring. This is one of our very favorite springs in Florida. Springs are great when it's hot, because they stay 72 all year round! Or if you want to go to the park, there are water slides and a mermaid show, look it up ( ;
