You’re in luck because this restaurant is not only delicious, it’s right next door. It is Mediterranean/Middle Eastern cuisine served family style. Ask to sit upstairs. Don’t miss dishes: The menu changes and I seem to order the specials they have a lot but they usually have the same octopus dish and it’s very good. The lamb rack is excellent.

This Japanese restaurant is in the ultra luxurious high end shopping “mall” called Bal Harbour. To call it a mall will probably put the wrong idea in your head because it’s a beautiful outdoor relaxing place to window shop on your way to dinner, people watch and see the koi ponds throughout. We usually bring our dogs and sit outside and it’s actually quite casual. Don’t miss dishes: Spicy tuna crispy rice, watermelon seafood ceviche and the crab salad are all good but everything is.

Probably our favorite restaurant if we had to choose. This one is more upscale and the food is by chef José Andres. It’s tapas style food with a Spanish/Asian influence. Don’t miss dishes: Wow there are so many that I love here. The Japanese Peaches, the Dragonfruit Ceviche and the Squid Ink Paella-Style Pasta are three that pop into mind that you must get but you really can’t go wrong with anything else you choose. Seriously, don’t miss those three especially. $$$$ - Break out the piggy bank.

This eclectic, home-style restaurant has good food and it’s in a historic home here on south beach so it has a really unique feel. Go upstairs after (or before) for a cocktail in the loungy space that makes you feel like you’re at a party. Or go next door to the Broken Shaker for a delicious cocktail with a mostly younger crowd. It’s more casual than the previously mentioned places. Don’t miss dishes: Kimchi fried rice. Not touristy - lots of Miami Beach Locals go here. $$ - Don't sweat. It's Manageable.

This is our go to place for steaks. One of the few places that flies in true Japanese A5 Wagyu beef. We often share a bone in fillet steak and a side or two, which are huge. We think the food is slightly better than Prime 112 (a Miami institution and the place to go to be seen). $$$$ - Break out the piggy bank

Great wood fired kitchen concept with eclectic Asian inspired dishes. This restaurant is located in Wynwood, home of Miami’s finest street art. A great evening would be to walk around the area enjoying the street art and galleries, having a cocktail at one of the many bars and then heading to dinner at Kyu. (I have to mention my favorite shop here that is fun to see; It’s called Plant The Future. It’s a tiny shop with cool home botanicals. You should see it and then have a custom made mojito at the adjoining tiki bar.) Anyway, to the food! Lots of good dishes here, you can’t really go wrong. Great cocktails too. Not too touristy - lots of locals. $$$ - Manageable.

This is a Miami staple we’ve gone to many times. The food is eclectic, sort of New American style. Everything on the menu is delicious, the cocktails are good and the outside seating is beautiful. It is located in the Design District which has undergone huge changes recently and is a pretty cool place to walk around.
