Actually, it's not called The Toll Bar anymore, it's changed hands very recently and I haven't actually been in to the new place yet. But it's in a great spot. There is a small court yard over the sea at the back of it that you won't know about unless you walk through it.

Fabulous traditional tea house, but a tasteful one! Lots of different teas - cake and a small food menu. I like their cream teas the best, lovely scones. There is a very private little courtyard at the back that you can sit out in. You won't realise it's there from the street.

One of the oldest buildings in Fowey, very wibbly and wobbly and cottagey. I suspect it's grade 1 listed. Frank the dog is usually around (black Labrador). They do an all day breakfast in here if you miss breakfast in any of the other eateries.

Apparently the food is great here, I've never been but it's open to non residents and is in a stunning location. If you book some spar time, or use the pool up there, there is a hot tub on the veranda with a fabulous view. I don't know how much it costs for non residents to use these facilities (there is a spar there too) but it's worth asking. It's a fabulous colonial looking building that I believe Toad Hall was based on.

Now, controversial this, as I loved stopping off here when I did the Hall Walk, however, it changed hands and is getting terrible views on trip adviser. I believe you should always make up your own mind and the building is cosy, old, traditional, great. And there are great terraces that you should ask if you can go up and onto for brilliant views up the river.

Family friendly. I had a few problems with food when I visited on it's opening - however, give them a go because it's a great interior, right on the Quay, so a great location. See if they have got over the teething problems.

Great little pub, if you walk from Polruan to Polperro (and it's not an easy walk, the national trust call it the roller coaster, but it is a spectacular walk), you should time it to get to the Blue Peter to eat and have a drink at the end... it will take you around 4 hours to walk there though. Or you could just drive, great Sunday Roast, but you might need to book. It's popular.
