One of the best coffee shops in all of Budapest, and the best in Street & River's opinion. They have great coffee on tap of all things. This coffee, Roket, is certainly worth a visit. You can still get all the standard fare, and there is even a sister cafe just opposite where you can get brunch items. Highly recommended.

The best bagel shop in Budapest as far as Street & River are concerned. Fantastic fare, and you can even get coffee or juice spritzers. Very budget friendly, and they tend to have good music to boot. Hipstery to a tee, so don't be surprised by the service. Highly recommended to start your day off.

Babka (as of July 2016) has only been open about 2 months, but it has already become a neighborhood favourite. We here at Street & River love it and can often be found there. They have good breakfast and coffee, but the lunch/dinner menu is the real strength in our opinion. It's also a great place to sit and people watch. It also doesn't hurt that it is on Pozsonyi út, which is a real treat of a street. They also have a nice wine menu for those that are so inclined.

This restaurant was featured on the show Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern. It did not look good to us, as it featured very odd foods that had nothing to do with Hungarian dishes, but after trying it with a friend, we can report that it was very nice and very Hungarian with none of the weirdness from the televised show. The service was better than the average Hungarian eatery and we all felt the food was worth the reasonable prices. Street & River recommends it.

This is Street & River's favourite dessert shop in our neck of the woods! It is just across the boulevard in the 13th District. Stop in for a quick sugary pick me up and a coffee. We have to recommend their chili chocolate slice. It is near perfection in our opinion.

If you ask us at Street & River, this is hands down the best vegan place to eat in all of Budapest! There aren't a lot of options when it comes to this, so we are happy this place, easily the best, is just a short walk from our apartment (about 10 minutes). We are not vegan or vegetarian, but we readily eat here as a family. Very creative dishes with a budget friendly menu. It is small, so be patient, but it is certainly worth the wait. Highly recommended!

HILDA is a beautiful and new cafe in the heart of Budapest! Its specialty is rotisserie chicken, but they have sandwiches as well. Excellent drink choices are also provided. It's a bit on the pricey side, but certainly worth a visit, if just for a look at all the gorgeous tile work influenced by 1930's Budapest.

This place is actually the cafeteria of an office building, but it is open to the public, and worth a visit if you are looking for an affordable lunch. It is popular, so give yourself some time during lunch rushes, but you can enjoy set meals for a good price, as well as numerous choices beyond. For the most part, they serve Hungarian food, including well known favorites. Just enter the front of the office building and you will see the entrance to the left.

A standout theater here in Budapest, and less than a 5 minute walk from the Street & River apartment. All shows are in Hungarian, but pop in for a view while people are waiting for a show to start at the very least. Still worthwhile to see a performance if you are so like minded, and some shows feature rather well known Hungarian celebrities of stage and screen.

This museum and its collection was started by a Hungarian during his travels to Asia. It is located on Andrássy Avenue at the end nearer Heroes' Square. It is housed in a wonderful building and has unique exhibitions. It obviously isn't Hungarian culture, but you can see what in Asia interested a Hungarian named Ferenc Hopp. We here at Street & River find this a very nice museum to visit with our young son. Recommended for a quiet day.
