Four small lakes surrounded by Coke ovens from a bygone coal mining and steel smelting era. Enjoy small craft boating, swimming, fishing, picnics, etc. It's small for a State Park. Mostly frequented by locals. Great walking/biking trail winds around the lakes. Hiking trails wind through the woods. You will love the peace and quiet of this place, just a couple miles from the Village on Sewanee Creek. The park is the front door entrance to the Village and the Falls at Sewanee Creek

Pretty basic - no atmosphere rural dive. But try the Panini's or fried chicken. You'll be surprised.

White Table Cloth Dining. Historical site built by Al Capone for one of his mistresses. Reputedly stuffed with sand between the ground floor ceiling and upstairs floor to slow down the bullets. Highest elevation on Al's route from Chicago to Miami. Good stopping point to pick up some of Tennessee's signature bootleg whiskeys.
Outstanding food. A little pricey, but worth it.

This may be useful if you plan to join me in one of our adventure building projects. I designed and built the Beech treehouse, and the Eco-Container Guesthouse, not too mention the Village on Sewanee Creek Amphitheater. We are currently working on building a semi-primitive Glamp-Ground. For those interested in a creative DIY experience, we offer group builds. Build a cabin, a small sleeping Yurt (we call it a Yurtle) or an eco- sensitive Composting Toilet. Have fun welding some yard art. It’s all in a day’s fun.

This is our Intentional Community, focusing on self-reliant, sustainable living. We work and play together. Enjoy movies and music at our outdoor amphitheater AKA, the commons. Weekends will often find us working together to build something for one of the neighbors.
Residents enjoy working together on alternative energy, (solar off-grid or wood-gasification), rainwater catchment, sustainable gardening, food storage, etc. Housing styles range from Tiny to tremendous. We keep chickens, goats, fish and ducks. We get together Monday evenings for discussions, games, education, movies and just about anything that catches our interest. Independence Day is our biggest annual event. Join us.
