Owens Valley is a beautiful area situated between the Sierras and Death Valley. Old mining sites dot the area as well as trout fishing spots for adventuresome fisherfolk. Diaz Lake just North of Lone Pine Mobile Oasis offers fishing and water sports for those with small watercraft.

Turn right out of the Park and climb up to Horseshoe Meadows high in the mountains. Has great hiking and cooler temperatures to visit when hot near Owens Lake.

World renown hiking whether you hike to the Summit which requires a special permit or hike small trails around the campgrounds and store this area is gorgeous and unforgettable.

One of the best hiking locations just outside of Independence, CA. An intense trek into the mountains meets up with John Muir and Pacific Crest Trails. Hiking trails are advanced.

Good upper end food. Friendly and great chef. Best dining in town. Sit down and a bit higher end, great steak, fish or the chef's specials. Like an old dinner club. Note that Lone Pine eats early for dinner so nothing much past 9 pm.
