The Blackberry Cafe is situated on the corner of the main street in Thomastown and provides a traditional atmosphere complete with fresh, home-made baking and principally organic and locally sourced ingredients and produce. Originally an old shoemaker’s shop, it has been lovingly and extensively restored, retaining the eighteenth century frontage, with its characteristic large Georgian-paneled windows now painted a fresh tea green, and adorned with a magnificent sculptural blackberry.

Entrance fees start from €7.50 for an adult. (1 hr 50 minutes by car)

Described by some as Ireland’s best kept secret, the Comeraghs offer everything from a dramatic waterfall down a cliff face to the mystery of the ‘magic road’ which runs through the gap of the range. Described by some as Ireland’s best kept secret, the Comeraghs offer everything from a dramatic waterfall down a cliff face to the mystery of the ‘magic road’ which runs through the gap of the range. Titanic Experience Cobh is located in the heart of beautiful little Cobh town. Their home is the White Star Line Ticket Office; a building steeped in history dating back the early 19th century and the departure point for many thousands of passengers. Myself and Jim have both done the tour and it is fantastic! You will receive your boarding card on arrival which will have the details of one of the 123 passengers that boarded the Titanic here and by the end of the tour you will find out whether your passenger survived the journey or not. Open March to October with tours running roughly every 15-30 minutes throughout the day. You could also visit Spike Island if your spending the day here. (1 hour 45 minutes by car)

The park, restaurant and shop are open all year round; guided tours start at €10.50 for adults. (40 minutes by car)

Today, the island is dominated by the 200 year old Fort Mitchel, the star shaped Fortress which became a prison holding over 2300 prisoners. Take the scenic ferry ride from Kennedy Pier, Cobh, and enjoy a fully guided tour of the island and fortress, and relax in their cafe and picnic areas. (1 hour 45 minutes by car)
