Go here, take čevapi (chevapi) with onion and chese OR ajvar - pepper source. One of the oldest street food in these parts. It has I think turkish/bosnian roots, but its been here for so long it became our local food. Its meat - minced veal shaped like small sticks, I think they call them baby veal fingers :) Best for hungover :)

Conseils sur la ville
Déplacements
Public transport/taxi is not the best option to go around.
Use your legs or provided bicycles, if going further, take an Uber.
Manières de faire des économises
Regular city Taxis can be a ripoff
Always agree on a price in advance
Coutumes et culture
Tap water/Ice in drinks are 100% safe
no need to buy water
Déplacements
English should work in most of the cases
Elders will probably not speak, all 50 years minus should speak to some level. I hear often that tourists are surprised how many people actually can speak English and how well they do.
Déplacements
Split/Croatia is a VERY safe place
but be careful as a tourist in any city
Manières de faire des économises
Be extremely careful with fish/vine restaurants
Prices can go up like crazy
Déplacements
Avoid sex clubs
These clubs can scam you (overcharge you), avoid to go there, Split is not a sex tourism city.
Réservez avant de partir
No need to book most of the museums in advance
Coutumes et culture
You can take photo anywhere
I personally am not aware of a single place in Split and Croatia where you cannot take photos
Coutumes et culture
Be careful with illegal substances
Croatian police are really serious about those
Coutumes et culture
Alcohol on the streets is tolerable
if you are on a bench outside on Riva having a beer its completely fine. If its night and you are with a bunch of your friends drinking outside and singing, still fine (your can get warned to quite down, but that is all). If you are drunk in the middle of the day with drinks in front of the families - its not fine, you probably wont be fined, but you may be removed someplace else by officers
Coutumes et culture
Smoking is allowed in almost all bars inside
this info is for smokers as well as for non smokers
Coutumes et culture
Smoking is not allowed in most of the restaurants
Coutumes et culture
Always have cash if you go for bars & clubs
All other places including restaurants will accept credit cards, but I am not aware of a single bar that does.
Coutumes et culture
Bars and restaurants are quite different places in Croatia
Restaurants - eating is a must, no smoking in most of them, seated on the tables
Bars - no food of any kind, just drinking, smoking allowed, tables provided but also standing around is ok, no booking needed
Coutumes et culture
Driving bikes - be careful and be visible
I prefer to drive a bike in Split on a pedestrian zone on very busy roads. No strict laws about these. It is fine to use road, but I would say that the regular drivers are not 100% used to see bikes on the road., especially at busy roads.
