Lissadell House, famous as the childhood home of Constance Markievicz, the first woman to be elected to both Dáil Eireann & the House of Commons at Westminster. The poet WB Yeats was a frequent visitor to Lissadell and drew inspiration from the house & its environs. The lovely Alpine Gardens overlooking Sligo Bay are a suntrap, and are absolutely wonderful. The guides in the house itself are mostly local and have many stories from the locality that enrich the tour experience.
