On the water, good wine selection and plenty of steak and seafood options. We personally prefer Epic at this price point but if you want a view and don't mind a 12-15 min drive to Davidson ( ~5 miles) this is a nice option.

Pinnacle trail is moderate 5 miles, has outstanding views towards the southwest and can be accessed from the Visitors center. Crowders Mountain Peak is about 7mi round trip and has views of Charlotte. Its very popular with rock climbers and a gray spot to pack a sandwich and enjoy lunch. It's about 5-6 miles of moderate/strenuous up the Rigeline trail (only about 1-mile strenuous; the rest is pretty tame). Trail maps at the visitors center

You can get a guided raft trip, mountain bike, rock climbing adventure in just about 30-45 minutes from the Waterfront Retreat. It's the place to be in Charlotte on a Thursday night from May-September
