Goose Point Getaway: a few of our favorite things

Coastal Hikes/Walks/Picnics
Beautiful place for a coastal walk/hike. If you go in the morning before 10am you will avoid the park entrance fee (when applicable). TIP: walk through gate and head down the road, take first left, go to end of road and take another left, a little wats down and the ocean is on your right. Walk the coastal path all the way to the end and then take a right which will lead you back to the gate. *COVID UPDATE: there is no parking signs along the road outside the gate (not sure why). You can park on the road right before the signs begin and it just adds a little extra to your walk :)

The perfect spot for a picnic. Located across the street from the York Harbor Inn. Beautiful landscape and soft grass to relax and enjoy beautiful ocean views! We have provided a picnic basket and chairs for you to take with you. We will often grab a bottle of wine and pick up food at Anthony's food shop on route 1 in York. TIP: If you head down the path you can take a left to hike the CLIFF WALK along the ocean. See "CLIFF WALK/FISHERMAN'S WALK for more information.

You can park for free in the back wharf parking lot and take a hike across the Wiggly Bridge. Then continue on the FISHERMAN'S WALK which then leads to the CLIFF WALK. Take a right out of the store and veer right at the dirt road. Follow the path along the water, across the wiggly bridge and continue along the shore. When you arrive at the Stage Neck, go past the beach and the CLIFF WALK continues along the shore. TIP: Best in the morning or late afternoon light.

The Marginal Way in Ogunquit is a beautiful cliff walk. There's parking in Perkins Cove. We often like to do the hike and then peek in some of the shops in the cove. TIP: Ogunquit from Kittery Point is about a 20-30min drive. We usually take the coast up at least one way

Right in York Maine, Mount Agamenticus is a hidden jewel with some wonderful hikes a beautiful views. Below is a link to the trail map and we actually just discovered these trails ourselves just recently. The most popular hike is the First Hill, but we encourage you to explore the Second and Third Hill. Just be sure to plan your time, take a map and have a back up flashlight with you if you venture and it gets dark out. We wouldn't want you to get lost in the woods as we almost did (there is a flashlight in the kitchen drawer of the AirBnB). Here's a link to the trail map: http://agamenticus.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/MT.A-MAP.pdf and they usually have plenty available on site.

Our favorite Italian restaurant in the area. Andy loves the pasta carbonara with shrimp and mushrooms and my "go to" is the Chicken Marsala with a side of linguini w/ garlic & oil. TIP: be sure to make a reservation.

Casual Seafood restaurant on the coast of NH. To get there, just follow the coast through Portsmouth on 1A/1B. Its a beautiful drive with some historic stops along the way. TIP: they don't take reservations so it can be a wait, especially in the summer. We like to sit up top in the corner high top to see a view. Otherwise, we usually like a table in the bar. Great fried seafood, chowder, baked lobster and seafood ... delicious.

Located just past Kennebunkport. Casual seafood with beautiful views/spot. We often ride our bikes down from Kennebunkport and go for the lobster roll (so fresh and reasonably priced), great Haddock sandwich and best onion rings.

BEST place to grab some lobsta to go. They will cook them for you or you can take the home and cook them yourselves. We recommend 2lb. hardshells note: if you bring them back to the AirBnB and would like to eat out on the deck, let us know and we will place table/chairs out for you.

Right down the street on Kittery Harbor, there are three dining options. Frisbees Wharf (best water view with good casual eats), Bistro 1828 (more finer dining, heard food is good), the Skyview (same menu as Bistro with great views).

Step back in time as you stroll through the SB Museum. In normal times, they usually have some "hands on" activities. They also present a "Vintage Christmas Stroll" under the stars. You have to buy tickets ahead of time so if its of interest for this Christmas (2020), don't delay in purchasing them. There is also public skating on the Puddle Duck Pond.

Ogunquit is a must visit when in the area. Browse the shops downtown and in Perkins Cove, stroll the Marginal Way and many great dining options. Ogunquit also has one of the most beautiful beaches ... our favorite. There is a river side where you can take a float as the tide comes in and out. And that loops around to the ocean side where you a splash in the waves or boogie board (ps. If you would like to grab a couple of floats, just ask). TIP: If you start your drive north on Route 1, take a right on Cape Neddick Road (right after Walkers Maine) and then a left on Short Road to take the coastal route to Ogunquit.

Portsmouth is just over the bridge from Kittery and is full of history and character. Shops, restaurants, waterfront parks and historical landmarks. If you look on the PortsmouthNH.com website under "things to do" they have a great list for Portsmouth and surrounding area both north and south. PARKING TIP: take the coastal Route 103 towards Portsmouth and right before the Memorial Bridge, take a right on Badgers Island road and you can usually find a parking spot along the road. Then take the beautiful walk over the bridge into town.

Kennebunkport is approx. 20min north of Ogunquit. Beautiful coastal drive, shops and restaurants. You can take a horse drawn carriage ride through town and be sure to drive up the coast to Cape Porpoise. The Cape Pier Chowder House is one of our favorite spots to get a a lobster roll. You can also rent bikes at the Kennebunkport Bicycle Company and take a left on Beach Ave and cruise the beach. Bike all the way past the end of the beach and take a left on Great Hill Road. York is the next town over from Kittery. It has some historical attractions, the Nubble Lighthouse is a scenic stop and if you like ice cream, Dunne's (around the corner from the Nubble) is the place to be. Scenic Walk: start at the end of Long Sands beach and head up the hill towards the Nubble light house. Continue past Dunne's and take a right on Kendall Road for a beautiful view of Short Sands and take a left to end back where you started. Beach: we prefer Long Sands and you can usually find a metered parking space. There are some nice dining/drink options on Long Sands as well as Short Sands.
