Oprah's favorite ice cream is Salt & Straw's Olive Oil, and even The Rock gets his Salt & Straw shipped straight to his house. Place is legit. Don't let a long line discourage you; plenty of good people watching while you wait. Stroll that way or bike from Cascadia Hideaway.

Old locksmith shop remodeled into a neighborhood tavern. Signage and name are original and unchanged. Next to a great food cart pod if you are seeking a full night out. Cocktails are creative and also classic. Interior is fashioned like an old den complete with a vinyl DJ station and red pleather booths. Friendly bartenders. 15 minute walk or 5 minute cycle from Cascadia Hideaway. Ample outdoor seating. If you are looking for a quality yet unpretentious night out, Keys has you covered!

2 miles away, this one is likely going to involve hopping in your car or on your bike. On Mississippi Avenue, lots to do/see/eat/drink. Lively area full of young people doing fun things. If you like donuts or litle fluffy things that melt in your mouth, Blue Star is for you. Described as "donuts for adults," they use french butter and brioche flour to make a delicious freakin' donut unlike any other you have likely had. Featured in Vogue, bon appétit, and thrillist, lots of amazing flavors and seasonal specials that will delight you. My fav is the OG (Orxata Glaze). Perfection can be quite simple.

Great area with lots of great restaurants, shops, and bars. Very similar in vibe to Alberta just not as artsy. Great place to stroll and bar hop. Start at Bloodbuzz on the northern end, Skidmore, and work your way down.

Great off-leash park and sweet shaded playground for the littles. Large covered basketball courts and an old tennis court that is a hot spot for bike polo (b-roll from Portlandia). Nature walking path, baseball fields, and large area for frisbee or other activities. Good stuff!

At 5,200 acres, Portland's Forest Park is one of the largest urban forests in the United States. With more than 80 miles of trails, fire lanes and forest roads, Forest Park stretches for more than seven miles along the eastern slope of the Tualatin Mountains, overlooking Northwest Portland and the convergence of the Columbia and Willamette Rivers. Forest Park offers an unparalleled opportunity for visitors to experience a true Northwest forest without leaving the Portland city limits. Pet friendly and even some kiddo friendly trails. Perhaps the city's most beloved and unique attribute.

Entertainment and Bars
Hidden gem that is a 15 minute walk from Cascadia Hideway. Super rad piece of local history. Converted elementary school that contains multiple bars, a restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner and a single screen movie theater housed in the old gymnasium. Great spot to catch a movie or grab a drink in the tiny 'Detention' bar. McMenamins makes their own beer and wine. A great place for guests of all ages. Family friendly and fun to even just explore all the converted spaces.
