Parks & Nature
There is a reason that this is the most photographed ecosystem in America. Its beauty is iconic and overwhelming. Drive to Highlands, park there, then take the narrated tour bus up to the Bells ($8). (The bus is our environmentally-friendly alternative to having a million tourist cars destroying the area)
From the welcome center/lake, you can enjoy easy hikes on either the scenic loop (20 min) , or, if you're more ambitious, up to Crater lake and back (about 1 hour each way).
Remember the last bus down is 5PM!

We are 5 min walk from John Denver's 1000-acre gift to us--Windstar Nature Preserve. On foot or on horseback (no doggies allowed) this is a beautiful, inspiring trip through the timeless grace of nature. If you'd like to go on horseback, Snowmass Creek Outfitters (970.704.0707) can get you in the saddle easily.
