The civil parish has been permanently associated with the Marian apparitions that were witnessed by three shepherd children at the Cova da Iria in 1917. The Catholic Church later recognized these events as "worthy of belief". A small chapel was built here in honor of Our Lady of Fátima, beginning in 1918, and a statue of her installed; the chapel and statue have since been enclosed within a large shrine and basilicas. Each year thousands of pilgrims visit the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fátima. The phrases of Pope Francis's visit to Fatima 05.2017.

But, it is better to see once.

The caves are located in the central region of Portugal, 15 kilometers from the city of Fatima. We found the cave, as often happens, by chance. In July 1947, residents of a small village saw steam rising from somewhere out of the ground. Four brave souls ventured out and found a small hole where and steaming. The hole expanded, and it turned out that it is the entrance to a large cave. The cave began to investigate, and found a passage to another cave. Then another. Thus, during the 20 years it has been discovered underground kingdom, length of 11 km and a depth of 230 meters. In 1974, the cave became available to the public. One can only guess how much effort has been put to ordina

Tomar (Portuguese pronunciation: [tuˈmaɾ]), also known in English as Thomar, is a city and a municipality in Santarém District in Portugal. The town of Tomar was born inside the walls of the Convento de Cristo, constructed under the orders of Gualdim de Pais, the fourth grand master of the Knights Templar in the late 12th century. Tomar is one of Portugal's historical jewels and more significantly was the last Templar town to be commissioned for construction. Tomar was especially important in the 15th century when it was a centre of Portuguese overseas expansion under Henry the Navigator, the Grand Master of the Order of Christ, successor organization to the Templars in Portugal.

Santana is the biggest Sunday market in this part of Portugal. Santana is sometimes called the gypsy market. Most of the merchants are gypsies. Men in black. Older women are in black. Young women, girls and even girls, are dressed and painted all the colors of the rainbow. Huge earrings, rings, bright lipstick, shadows, blush. The goods on the shelves and ropes stretched everywhere are not inferior to the color palette of Gypsy makeup.
