The Vine and Wine Museum is located at the Experimental Viticulture Station in Arco de São Jorge, Santana. The museum purpose is to be a living and interactive space with a restored old cellar displaying tools used in viticulture, mostly donated by the local population. There is also an experimental ground.

Portuguese and foreign furniture, jewellery, ceramics and sculpture are part of the rich museum collection of this Madeiran Quinta. Located at Funchal by the Quinta das Cruzes is one of the manor houses with significant historical tradition, property of the first captain-donee family, since it became their official second residence in the island. It remained in the Câmara family until the mid-seventeenth century, passing on to the Lomelino family until the late 19th century. This property has suffered several modifications over the centuries and, around the 18th century it became an emblematical "Quinta Madeira". This trail is unique in that it links two of the highest peaks of Madeira Island, Pico Ruivo (1862 m) and Pico do Areeiro (1817 m), traversing part of the Central Mountain Massif, an area integrated in the Natura 2000 Network.

Beginning at Achada do Teixeira this trail climbs up to the island’s highest peak, Pico Ruivo (1862 m). Next to the Pico Ruivo government house you can gain access to 3 other trails that take the hiker to different parts of the island: PR 1 - Pico do Areeiro footpath (5,1/6,4 Km), which takes you to Pico do Areeiro, the island’s 2nd highest peak (1816m); PR 1.3 - Encumeada Footpath (8.6 Km), goes along the central mountain range to the West; and PR 1.1- Ilha Footpath (8.2 Km), which descends to the parish of Ilha. Along the climb you will meet several shelters as the change in climate is sudden and sharp and the area often becomes covered in a sea of clouds or rests above it.

The Levada do Furado is one of the oldest levadas belonging to the state, having been acquired through a contract signed in 1822 between the first Count of Carvalhal and the Board of the Royal Treasury, for the purpose of irrigating the farmlands of Porto da Cruz.

This trail has as starting point the only plateau existing in Madeira Island: Paul da Serra. Quiet and relaxed stroll, we can find along the way several species from Laurissilva which resisted the settlement, as well as, follow Levada dos Cedros, the water canal built in the 17th century.

This trail is included in an area of Laurissilva forest, classified as a World Natural Heritage by UNESCO, since December 1999 and member of the European Network of Sites of Community lmportance - Nature 2000. ln the area know as 'Fio', the visitor can appreciate what is left of an ingenious apparatus of steel cables which stretch down-hill to the parish of Chão da Ribeira.
This route is linear but makes a return by the outward route. There are tunnels on this walk, for which a torch is essential. The first part of the trail follows the levada through an afforested area, but offers spectacular views of the São Jorge and Santana farmlands.

Be aware that you will find a number of branches going off the levada that take water to irrigation system tanks.
