Its Michelin starred. We are saving it for special occasions. It also has a cafe at the back next to the visitors' centre for the four Cathar castles at Lastours. We have lunch their every time we take friends and family to visit Lastours. Never had a bad meal and sometimes chef tries out new dishes for his main restaurant. Michelin starred food for plat de jour prices!

Excellent covered market selling a huge range of produce. It also has wine and snack bars. Visit on Sunday morning (less traffic, easier to park and there is a large adjacent street market.

Sightseeing
"La Cite" is the largest medieval fortress in Europe and is truly spectacular - it was a major Cathar stronghold and is a UNESCO world heritage site. There is music, dance and theatre performances nightly throughout the summer in the castle amphitheatre and spectacular fireworks on Bastille Day. There is also a lively Christmas market in December.

One of the best and closest Cathar sites. Our house is in "Cathar Country" and we are on the "Cathar Trail". Most Cathar castles were build on seemingly inaccessible mountain tops - spectacular but you are unlikely to be able to drive to the gate. Visiting these castles will take perhaps 90 minutes and involve climbing several flights of stone stairs and following a path that snakes up the hillside through a cave. Lots of wildflowers in spring and summer.
