Food Scene
This is our favorite breakfast and lunch place! Completely locally owned, counter service with super friendly staff. Second closest restaurant to the apartment, kind of a secret/local spot. You walk directly across the street from the ACC driveway into the KOA gravel parking lot. Go through the gate into the pool area, walk right around the pool to the ramp which leads to the large main office building of KOA.
The restaurant is right there when you open the doors at the top of the ramp facing the pool. Our favorites is the fried chicken sandwich or Tri village wrap! Less expensive than ACC and everywhere else in town. Equal price to Big Waves Market.

Nice counter Service restaurant right beside the apartment! More expensive then Shelia's but offers a larger menu and more seafood items. Our favorite is the Spicy Tuna Burger. It is a huge tuna steak coated in a perfectly spicy seasoning, add with tartar sauce it is perfect. We're not very good with spicy food, we usually order food mild or medium but we still love it!

Parks & Nature
This is a cool little visitor center for the National Wildlife refuge and has a pretty small trail accompanying it. It is also right across the street from the beach like most everywhere on the island! On your way to or from Nags Head/KDH area or off the Island in general a nice stop off.

The largest brick lighthouse in the world that was underwent a huge relocation engineering feat after being moved from right beside the ocean, pretty much right behind the sand dunes, to where it is today. It costs $8 a person to hike up to the top, the view is pretty incredible!

Drinks & Nightlife
Local bar that does Karaoke every Thursday night which can be fun. Defiantly get the local feel, whether that is your jam or not is all up to you! They have some good beers on tap like two hearted ale.
