The Orphan Train Museum is dedicated to the preservation of the historical event of the arrival of the Orphan Train riders from New York Foundling Hospital to Louisiana between the years 1873 and 1929. It serves in conjunction with the Louisiana Orphan Train Museum located in Opelousas, La., one of the many railway destinations for thousands of young abandoned and sometimes homeless children rescued from the streets of New York and seeking rural homes across the US from 1854 to 1929. Great place for all the family.
