Milan's majestic Cathedral is the symbol of the city, and its Gothic architecture screams "romance", especially if you take the trip up to the Duomo terraces, where you'll be treated to close-up glimpses of the church's 135 impressive spires as well as magnificent city views. Tips : On the roof, look out for the Madonnina, a gilded figure of Mary on the tallest spire. It was the highest point in Milan until the Pirelli skyscraper was built in 1958. Try Sunset among the Spires, a one-hour guided tour of the terraces (English tours: Friday, 6 pm; Italian tours: Friday and Saturday, 7 pm). Book in advance.

Located near Sforza Castle, Parco Sempione is the largest green area in Milan. Situated on the site of an ancient Ducal-era park and hunting ground, called 'Barcho,' the English-landscaped park features rich flora, jogging trails, a playground and courts for volleyball and basketball. Many activities and events also take place here throughout the year, thanks to the nearby Civic Arena. Tips : I like walking through the center of the park towards the pond and the locally-named "Little Mermaid's bridge". Do not miss La Triennale, a venue for contemporary exhibitions and events located inside the Palace of Art.

A due passi dal Parco Ravizza, uno storico circolo Arci aperto nel 1976 in un cortile da vecchia Milano, dove trovano posto tavoli e ombrelloni. La programmazione dell'”Arci Bellezza” è eclettica: si organizzano concerti, mostre, corsi, spettacoli, serate a tema e poi si balla, dal tango al liscio alle danze popolari. C’è anche l’osteria a gestione familiare: insomma ci si ritrova qui per mangiare, bere, stare con gli amici e ballare senza spendere troppo. Un curiosità: la palestra sottostante l’”Arci Bellezza” è stata il set di alcune scene del film “Rocco e i suoi fratelli” di Luchino Visconti.

La nuova sede di Milano della Fondazione Prada, progettata dallo studio di architettura OMA, guidato da Rem Koolhaas, espande il repertorio delle tipologie spaziali in cui l’arte può essere esposta e condivisa con il pubblico. Caratterizzata da un’articolata configurazione architettonica che combina edifici preesistenti e tre nuove costruzioni (Podium, Cinema e Torre), è il risultato della trasformazione di una distilleria risalente agli anni dieci del Novecento.
