The world's largest exhibition of Maori treasures and Pacific artefacts. A wonderful exhibition based on traditional Maori life, mythology, rituals, language, craft, performance. Includes guardianship of Maori carvings, weaving, a meeting house (wharenui), canoe (waka). Tours available. Experience a live Maori performance (check times at the ground floor information desk). The Museum also houses extensive digital records of those New Zealanders who defended during WWI and WWII including the Maori Battalion. Open daily 10am - 5.00pm

A self-guided heritage walk around the perimeter of Hobson Bay. You start from Brighton Road and reach the foreshore via Elam Street where steps lead to the beach front. The walk begins at the coastal foreshore of Hobson Bay and connects with a constructed wooden walkway across incredibly beautiful bushclad gullies and coastal marshland. Average and above fitness. Takes 1.5 hours.

The walk begins at the coastal foreshore of Hobson Bay and connects with a constructed wooden walkway across incredibly beautiful bushclad gullies and coastal marshland. Average and above fitness. Takes 1.5 hours.

Take the pathway up the neighbouring hillside to historic St Stephens Chapel c1857 which offers a stunning view of the harbour. You can continue past the Chapel to Judge Street and then St Stephens Avenue with its early homes and tall oak trees. Parnell is New Zealand's first suburb.
