Food Scene

Our favorite restaurant! Rates the top of all restaurants in Curaçao and less than 3 miles from our bungalow. This is run by Taco & Emily, who also run the Catus Cafe (lunches) inside Christoffel park.

A great relaxing spot is Landhuis Daniel - also on Weg Naar Westpunt and not far out of town. On the way to Westpunt it’s right past Tera Kora on the right. They have amazing gardens with all organic produce and very good food. It’s almost tropical in their space so different than the desert climate elsewhere. Another good lunch spot! We stop here on our way to the airport and find it a perfect place to enjoy before rejoining the masses!

We got a recommendation from a local for the best red snapper and we think it’s true! Right on the water, in the "Arches" in Punda. Fun lunch spot if you're in town.

For a great view of the island and good food too, try Fort Nassau – as you go over the BIG bridge stay to the right – there will be a little sign for it after the exit to Punda.

Parks & Nature

Playa Grande – is the fishing beach that you can see from our bungalow. It’s a local gathering spot on Sundays - the fish shacks are all open and very active. Don’t drive - there’s no parking! There is a staircase down across from the church. Good snorkeling often with turtles that show up to catch the fish scraps. You can also buy fish there. Cash and carry and they often don’t have change and bring your own bag.

Playa Forti - Right next to Marazul. The kids jump off the rocks there and there are a couple of bars/restaurants to check out. The beach is not smooth sand, but snorkeling is good and you can always swim from there to Marazul or vice versa

Playa Jeremi – A small beach between Knip and Lagun. Lovely snorkeling and a neighbor just saw an octopus over there!

Playa Kalki - The far beach when you look to the right from the bungalow. There’s often a larger dive boat there. Take a left out of Marazul and another left right past the cemetery/turn for Playa Grande and then another left between the cemetery and sports field. Follow the road until you get to Kalki - on the left. There’s a small parking lot. There’s a dive shop, restaurant, chairs, etc. A small beach, but lovely.

A good beach with full amenities and great snorkeling is Playa Porto Marie - it’s a drive in, but you can camp out all day since they have full amenities including a dive shop, showers, restaurant, chairs and umbrellas. There’s a modest fee and not a bad idea to tip the parking attendant.

Also called Playa Knip or Big Knip and Little Knip is to the left off the same road. There is a vendor at Little Knip for drink and fried foods. Vendors are occasionally at Big Knip. We don’t do a whole lot of beach sitting - our favorite beach is still Knip, which is about five kilometers to the right as you exit Marazul. However, there are not a lot of amenities there. We love snorkeling or just bobbing around - it’s beautiful!!
