Drinks & Nightlife

Very popular bar and pizza place on UKs campus. They have their own parking lot behind the restaurant which is free (a rarity downtown). The pizza is awesome, and come during happy hour for some of the cheapest well drinks in town.

Sightseeing

In the heart of downtown, Triangle Park has a beautiful fountain that runs the entire length of the curved side of the park, and is nestled between Rupp Arena, The Hilton and Marriot, and The Square, an iconic shopping and eating venue. It's also walking distance to both fine dining, comfort food, grab and go pizza, the Opera house, and tons more.

Everything Else

Locally owned and eclectic, it's a coffee shop, they have some sandwiches and breakfast items, and an ever changing variety of art from local artists. Half the store is filled with rare and unique items, many of which are produced locally. Great place to come hang out for a bit, relax, and shop for some unique items if you'd like.

Parks & Nature

Biggest park in the city, there's a couple fenced off dog areas, volley ball courts, and a large pond. This is a great place to pick up some food and take for a nice lunch outdoors at a picnic table or under a shade tree.

McConnell Springs is a natural spring where water boils up and travels along a stream before going underground at the back of the trail. It also has a welcome center filled with educational materials about the animals and flora of the area.

Feeling a little more adventurous or in tune with nature? Raven Run is a nature santuary with miles of trails that traverse fields, streams, and have some very difficult trails as well. If you're feeling up to it, there's a trail that leads to a cliff overlooking the Kentucky river with amazing views. There's lots of nature to be seen here. Just be aware they have rules you might expect at a nature sanctuary, such as no food/alcohol/pets on the trails. I'd encourage bringing lots to drink though, on hot days the hike can be very taxing.

Entertainment & Activities

Lexington is known as the horse capital of the world. Go see the races if you're here during the spring or fall meets, go early for Breakfast Trackside and get a buffet breakfast and watch the thoroughbreds during their morning exercises. Tailgating in the back parking lots (aka The Hill) is a local tradition. You'll also see everyone dressed in their best coming to bet on the races.
