Sightseeing

Need I say more? It's Clearwater Beach! My fave beach in the area because it's got a wide expanse of sand, and the north end has less people, and from there, you can walk right onto Caledesi Island (the two are now joined). Pier 60 has street performers and artisans selling their goods, plus a large, covered outdoor playground in the sand. There are sometimes bouncy houses and inflatable slides and trampolines for the kids, a large, wide promenade for walking next to the beach, and shopping (Surf Style is good) and lots of restaurants.

Parks & Nature

This is a great little gem about a 10-minute drive from downtown St. Pete. Affordable ($3 - $6), fun and interesting. It's on a huge lake where I usually see alligators, has a great museum/gift shop and has "tram tours" (golf cart tours) with experienced, passionate volunteers who drive you through the preserve, explain Florida nature to you (some very interesting facts!) and let you stop and take photos, or to see the lake and the gators. Combine this with lunch and/or shopping in downtown St. Pete.

Shopping

There are several inexpensive shops here where you can find sun dresses, sandals, t-shirts, natural sponges and soaps. Enjoy a meal at one of several Greek restaurants, or just have coffee or ice cream. You'll hear lots of Greek spoken here!
