While there were no battles fought in Valley Forge, the time the Continental Army spent here went down as one of their most trying periods. Exhibits, artifacts, replicated huts and the original headquarters tell the story of the pivotal winter that George Washington and his troops endured at the site.
Located at the intersection of Market and Broad streets, City Hall — the largest municipal building in the country — has been Philadelphia’s government headquarters for more than 100 years. Just below the 37-foot-tall bronze statue of William Penn that tops the building’s clock tower is the building’s observation deck, which is accessible via a short tower tour or a two-hour public tour that also highlights the art, architecture, the tower and history of the building.
