I tend to think Kierland is a bit more family friendly than Scottsdale Quarter. Kierland has a large splash pad for the kids and Shake Shack is located there which is good for kids.

The views are spectacular, the hiking is great and there are Jeep tours that are fun too. Devil's Bridge is a popular spot to go hiking, but not for small kids. Make sure you make the drive up and down highway 89-A. People come from all over the world just to make that drive.
