It's cute and its close by us, and has very good coffee. They also have a wall of french pastries so we can all pretend we're in France, and those from France can feel a little bit at home.

On Tuesday's Papas do a special cheap pasta night. But they're a great regular for us anyway for any excuse to celebrate with a glass of wine and a large size pizza!

Sightseeing

Waiheke island is like a microcosm of Auckland all on one tiny island, -vinyards and beautiful beaches, food, shops, boats, I suggest all visitors get out on the Auckland harbour somehow or other while they're here, and the ferry trip to Waiheke will give you a sense of it

Parks & Nature

All of our West coast beaches are famous but Muriwai gannets are just stunners, and the beach goes on and on and it's pretty wild. For safer swimming and surfing and camping/food, Piha is the most popular.

We take the short drive in the car to Point Chev Beach when the tide is in. It's only a few minutes away then, and if the tide is full in the evening it's a bonus because it gets the setting sun.

Mt Eden is the highest Volcano (sleeping Volcano!) in Auckland and the view is magnificent from the top. Also it's the site of an old Maori Marae, and you can see evidence of where the structures were built over shaped ground from over 200 years ago. At the base of the mountain is the shopping village of Mt Eden, which also has a great night life and busy cafes, and an exellent little bookshop!

Kingsland station is only a few minutes up the road. and from there you can connect to the city's train bus and boat system with a Hop card that you purchase from a dairy. (small grocery shop / tobbacanist). Even closer is the bus stop, to take a bus into town using the same payment system. Tag on, using the tag on platform and tag off at the other end.
