Sightseeing

Beautiful Sydney Harbour offers many attractions, one of which is the bridge walk. Take the train to Milsons Point Station (4 stops from St. Leonards). As you pass through the station's ticket barriers, turn left towards Broughton St. Climb up the stairs on the right that you will see as you exit the station's tunnel. Set your GPS for circular quay and follow it. Take the train back from Circular Quay heading towards Central (change at Wynward) and take the train to Hornsby from platform 4. In the summer this is a great walk to do around dusk. You might want to take a jacket because if it is windy, it is likely to be cold.

Manly beach is famous the world over. Using public transport is a great way to get their. Take the train to Circular Quay (St. Leonards -> Wynyard, change at Wynyard to the Bondi Line and get off at Circular Quay). Then take the famous "Manly Ferry" from Circular Quay. Once you get to Manly, Cross over the road (the "West Esplanade") and follow the crowd down "The Corso". There are plenty of pubs, restaurants and takeaways. In the summer it's nice to get some fish and chips and eat it while lazing on the beach. Beware, the it is easy to get sunburn - especially between 1PM and 4PM - use plenty of sun screen and where a hat.

Taronga zoo is a world class zoo known all over the world. Set on the stunning slopes of Sydney Harbour's suburb Mosman, many people are surprised that it is more like a park than what they expect as a zoo. There is ample parking, but an easy alternative is to take public transport. Take the train to Circular Quay (change at Wynyard station). Then take the zoo ferry from Circular Quay. An easy way to see the zoo is to take the cable car to the top of the hill (a 60m climb) and walk back down at your leisure. About half way down you will find a food court - so you won't go hungry.
