Squalicum Creek runs through Cornwall Park supporting spawning salmon. The Lummi People knew Squalicum Creek area as Nu-Qual-le-hum, “water containing dog salmon”, a place to harvest spawning Chum salmon in the fall each year. Cornwall Park is a community park established in 1909. Facilities include two picnic shelters, two playgrounds, a spray park, disc golf, trails, restrooms, parking, basketball court, tennis & pickle ball courts, multi-purpose field, Spray Park - Open June 15 through September 15, 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Its a wonderful trail through Bellingham up to Whatcom Falls Park. The start point is behind Sunnyland Elementary School with a pedestrian bike /foot bridge over I-5. you cross only a few roads and gentle grade, gravel trail up into Whatcom Fall Park. Views of Bellingham Bay from the Alabama Street Overpass. Wildlife and marsh birds may be observed at St. Clair Pond, Scudder's Pond and Lake Whatcom.

Trails with hidden art sculptures. very neat place most people in Bellingham do not know what a treasure this park is. Big Rock Garden was established in 1992. The Garden is home to apermanent sculpture exhibit and hosts sculpture shows. The Japanesestyle gardens are maintained with the help of volunteers. Facilities include parking, restrooms and trails.
