A 2.5 mile drive from the house with 7 different trails to lead you to the top depending on how easy or difficult you’d like to make it. Our favorite is the Notch Trail for the good views of Foys Lake on the way up.

This hike will give you the solitude that you are looking for and the lake is only a mile from the trailhead (though steep in some areas).

So the name sounds terrible, but trust us the views you will get from hiking in the Jewel Basin are total worth the risk. The gravel/dirt road to Camp Misery can be a bit challenging depending on the type of car you are driving. There are many different hikes in this area and it is definitely a local favorite.
