Not quite as popular as many of the Causeway Coast attractions probably because of the walk down to a ruined castle. But definitely worth it & without the queues at Carrick-a-Rede road bridge

Thrilling especially on a stormy winter's day. The best way to see it is to take the cliff walk to the right of the car park & walk down to the shore. Top Tip is to park in the railway carpark which is free off peak or certainly cheaper than the main carpark.

One of the most beautiful beaches in Ireland shared with cows. Great place for a picnic though quite a long walk down from the car park so not ideal for small children. You can walk to it from Ballintoy Harbour. NB it is not a safe place to swim especially on an outgoing tide

Time travel into farmhouses, streets, shops, a school, a police station & more as they would have been. Taken from all over Ulster they have been rebuilt faithfully. Turf fires burning, it feels like the original occupants have just gone out. You could easily spend a couple of hours walking around

Lovely sandy beach beside the capital of the glens, with a great high street full of independent shops. Seahaven Therapy offer seaweed baths beside the harbour. The Auld Lammas Horse Fair takes place on the August Bank Holiday weekend. Ursa Minor is a great bakery. There's a good Co-op off the Diamond & a grocer's shop on it.

My favourite place in Ireland. If you park at the top carpark & walk along the cliffs to your right as you look over the sea until you get to a gate and a track that goes down to a little farm. Just in front of it is attack that takes you down through bluebell woods to the shore. To the right past a house with black windows is path that takes to a little beach which depending on how the winter has been can be sandy & a good place to swim. The walk up along the road is long but worth it. The walks on Fairhead are stunning too. There is another carpark off the road to Ballycastle.

Local Shops

A new local shop has opened in the middle of the village in Glenarm where can papers & basics. There is a small selection of delicious Glenarm Organic Beef & Glenarm Organic Salmon as well as local delicacies in the Castle Garden Welcome Centre. Otherwise between the Costcutter at the garage in Carnlough & the Mace on the back street & The Spar at the far end of Carnlough (best selection) you can get away without having to go to Ballymena & Larne. The Spar stocks Ann's Pantry Bread & McAllister's sausages. If you want to thrill your kids buy them bottles of Cidona which is non alcoholic. Ebb & Flow is a new gift shop on the harbour selling homemade soaps. If you like lobsters & crabs you can buy them live from Alex McMullan in Waterfoot. For homegrown vegetables go to Slemish Market Garden next to the Ecos Centre in Ballymena. On the first Saturday of the month there is a community market in Glenarm where you can buy eggs, jam & other things
