Food scene
We're so fortunate to have Olalla Vineyard and Winery just down the road. Their welcoming environment, relaxing atmosphere, wonderful wines makes this a "not to miss" location. They host live music events weekly so check out their hours and make it point to visit.
If you're not going to cook at the cottage there's not too many places for food in the immediate area. One great option is to order some food from the winery (they have various picnic boxes including salmon, cheese, crackers, in addition to other delicious options.) If you think you're running late and you'd like us pick it up some for you, so you'll have it in the cottage we can certainly do that with enough advanced notice.

Banner forest is a huge trail system for biking, hiking, horse riding. Be sure your GPS is working if you start the hike or you may easily get lost as it's a vast network of trails.

Sightseeing
This is a hidden gem of a hike and walk down to the beach. It's a lovely walk on a very improved road (although cars are not able to drive on it). You park at the top and make your way down and through wonderful examples of Pacific Northwest forest. Once you get down to the beach you'll enjoy full views up and down Colvos passage. We've enjoy watching whales breach, porpoises playing, sea birds, eagles and even on evening walks back some huge owls. Definitely a great hike.

Amazing museum that covers the gambit of submarine and undersea history. It's been a favorite of our family for years.

This place is really cool historical boat building shed. They’re all about promoting wooden boat building and offer classes etc. But check out the rentals as they’re super fun!!! $30 hour for a electric power wooden runabout boat. We rent one and just enjoy cruising around Gig Harbor. You can pull up to the Tides Tavern and they’ll take your food and drink orders and deliver them to you boat! Super fun.
