This is the best spot for breakfast, a loaf of bread, or a midday sandwich. They also have amazing coffee from local roaster, Herkimer.

This is an incredible local grocery co-op that’s just a half a block from the house. They sell mostly organic and have a great hot and cold food bar. They also have a great beer and wine selection.

These guys brew everything in-house and have a great selection. While they don’t serve food, you can bring your own or order from one of the local eateries and enjoy there. Kid and pet-friendly.

Best Italian in the neighborhood and one of the best in Seattle. I would recommend making reservations ahead of time, as it’s a popular spot.

If you’re here on a Wednesday from 3:00-7:00 May-October, this is where you’ll want to be! The best of the area’s farmers come out to sell the freshest berries, tomatoes, cheese and other items. There are also fabulous food stands up. Try the cinnamon roll and lye rolls from Sea Wolf Bakery!

Sightseeing

This is the absolute best park in the city, in my opinion! It’s about a five minute drive SE of the house and well-worth it. The 2.5 mile loop around the forest is flat and fun to walk, run or bike, particularly as it is surrounded by Lake Washington. There are several access points for swimming, too, as well as meandering trails through the middle of the park.

A 10-15 minute drive south of the townhouse, this Japanese garden is an incredible South Seattle gem. The meandering paths and bridges provide a great level of interest, and there are lots of books and crannies to explore. I love taking a picnic down to enjoy on the grass and spending a few hours at the park.
