The star attraction here is the nation's longest canopy walk, extending 1,400 feet throughout the 54 acres of woodlands, ponds, streams, meadows and apple orchard. It’s been said you’re “walking among the tree tops” as this elevated footbridge soars up to 40 feet above the ground providing a bird’s-eye view of its breathtaking features. The rope bridge, cargo nets, glass floor platform, and pod-shaped adult size tree houses restores a youthful sense of adventure for all ages. A gradual incline, 6 ft wide walkway, and multiple benches allow this to be an inclusive activity for everyone regardless of mobility limitations. Visit this gem during any stay as it remains open year around offering a different experience each season. Water misters above the cargo nets offer relief on a sultry summer day… a steamy beverage from the café’ will keep you warm as you take in the majesty of a freshly fallen snow… a crisp fall day stimulates the senses with dazzling visuals while aromatic fall foliage infuses the air… spring showcases a rebirth as the sleeping forest awakens and transitions from monochromatic browns to bright greens and colorful blooms. Free parking is available here as well as Dow Gardens and Grace A. Dow Memorial Library. 2 Pedestrian bridges connect you to both venues and your admission to Dow Gardens is included! Don't miss the visitors center, former home to Macauley & Helen (Dow) Whiting, designed by architect uncle Aldon B Dow, granddaughter of Dow Chemical founder H.H. & Grace A. Dow for additional history and architectural appreciation.

Main street is hustling and bustling once more! I want to encourage you to visit Downtown Midland streetscapes-Main street has been transformed and revitalized. It's been a work zone but it's pretty clear and now that the "dust has settled" so to speak it's stunning! Nightly from 6-10pm there are outdoor fireplaces adding warmth and ambiance. Various other amenities can be found as well. You can literally be "wined and dined" with lots of cute shops lining the street there,s shopping as well. During the summer we enjoy meals on one of the many patios and at night movies on main, an out door movie at the ace hardware. A Christmas tradition is to visit downtown Midland for their holly jolly days event complete with a train ride and horse drawn carriage ride. The Santa house and courthouse are decked out like Rockefeller center. My girls have grown up watching the pizza makers at Pizza Sams make their pizza. No matter the time of year- this downtown stretch will romance you!

Walk, run or bike along this charming well maintained 9.5mi "bay city loop" which is an extension of the trail from Bay City State Park & Recreation. There are access points all along the way however the official beginning is at Liberty Bridge. This little trail allows you to see heart of downtown, the marina, Veteran's Memorial Park, beautiful gardens, and benches. The waterfront section features several ball fields, picnic areas and playgrounds. Soak up some of Bay City's shipbuilding heritage by viewing some interesting artifacts which includes Capt. Davidson's dry dock (located at the mouth of the foot bridge) and nearby is the rudder from one of his all wooden 1890s-1900s steamers. The Trombley-Centre House is just off the path it the oldest frame house still standing. There are a few markers that occupy this path delivering additional historic information. If nature is what you seek, there is also an arboretum or you can just sit back and watch the river flow past on one of the many benches along the way. Bay City Fittness park is the home of the River walk Pier which then leads to the wooden Riverwalk bridge. Upon utilizing the footbridge to cross the river channel you will arrive in Bigelow Park, an 11 acre gem situated on a small peninsula delivering panoramic views. Head towards the Lafayette Bridge and you're officially in the south end of Bay City. Take a right to cross the Bridge and check out Ted Putz Nature Area which is a 4-acre park with a boardwalk overlooking the wetlands scenery of the Saginaw River. Arbor street will lead you back to the Riverwalk :) Personally- I enjoy going against the grain a little :) So I prefer to park at Bigelow park and go backwards :) Riverwalk pier and the footbridge are my two favorites. Sometimes my childlike patience kicks in and I can't wait to get there :) If I do make it all the way down to Liberty Bridge from there I like to treat my self with Mama Lupos Homemade Ice cream to indulge on the trek back :) If I need a bit of a break I hit up Brooklyn Boyz for some pizza and the garlic knots always give me the will to walk back!

You'll be swept away in whimsical romance & magic that this canopy of lights offers was once only a vision of Avram Golden, a Bay City native and local artist and business owner specializing in photography and framing. The inspiration for this project was derived from the loss of his brother Ari, a military man of 28 years. “Light illuminates the darkness. Light is also a way to describe a special person. We all have people in our lives that have been a ‘light’ to us, and I wanted to find a way to embody that idea.” The members of the tight knit community and fellow downtown business owners of Bay City rallied around this idea donating $100 to recognize a "light" in their life enabling the project to be funded and executed relatively quickly. This magical stretch of Third street is so much more than a great photo opportunity... each individual bulb represents a celebration of someones life which they collectively illuminate an area that was once dark...very dark as it was referred to as "hell's half mile" late 19th century. For more information on this colorful past contact the Bay County Historical Museum. Posing in the historic district of Bay City is a nostalgic, single screen theater which debuted in 1908 with a fitting name, The Bijou, meaning “dainty usually ornamental piece of delicate workmanship” which still holds true today. In 1920 the rising popularity of film forced The Bijou to transform from live Vaudeville and Burlesque shows to a movie house and was renamed The Orpheum. A decade later, an architect named C. Howard Crane would grace the interior with an iconic design style of the time period referred to as art deco/Mayan just as he did 2 years earlier in the famous Fox Theater. The theater was renamed to The Bay after the interior transformation till 1956 when it acquired new ownership who gave the theater it’s final name and a more modern marquee. In addition they proceeded to paint the interior brown concealing the Mayan masterpiece. Rescued from a wrecking ball in 2000, the theatre underwent a 2 million dollar massive renovation restoring the vintage Art Deco/Mayan design of the 30s along with upgraded lighting, sound, HVAC, seating and more. Completed in 2006 and is now running as a nonprofit Washington Avenue’s Cinematic treasure offers a variety of live performances, films, and events many of which are family oriented and free/by donation of nonperishable food items. This venue commands the crowds with its conservative ticket and concession prices, rich history, elegant ambiance, and amazing acoustics. Comfy stadium style and balcony seating ensure there’s not a bad seat in the house. The rebirth of this charming icon has had a significant impact on the vitality of downtown while enriching the community. You will not be disappointed if you “make a date at The State”.

What started out as a Father’s Day gift in 1995 has now become “Bay City’s best kept secret”. Established in 2007 after years of brewing at home, Bay City native Keven Peil suddenly knew what his brewery should look like and acted on it. His humble beginnings started down town and has since relocated to a newly built building on Shrestha Dr accessable via Bay City’s two main roads Euclid and Wilder less than 3 miles off either highway (us10 or 75). Boasting an expansive 40 beer lineup on tap with locally inspired names, brewed from 100% malted barley, wines, ciders and root beer for the kids, everyone is sure to find a quality beverage they enjoy! It’s a tasting room so taste away! Bring your own Growler and Howler to fill and bring Fido too, just make sure they don’t growl or howl ;) Well behaved dogs are more than welcome in this establishment which is openly supportive of not only pet adoption but veterans! You’ll find ample seating and a relaxed atmosphere indoors as well as a seasonal patio area. Food trucks are available during peak dining hours which your server will advise and provide a menu. You’re welcome to bring your own food or even order in. Popcorn and board games are a nice touch as well. Visit their facebook or website to find out more info about future events and live music.

Accurately named, The Stables Martini & Cigar bar, is a locally owned independent brewpub in the historic warehouse district of Bay City. You’ll find it in the back part of an entertainment “hub”, if you will, which includes the Lumber Barons Brewery & Restaurant, The Fire Bar and 2 exquisite banquet rooms located on the second level. In 2005, horse stables that were originally built in 1916, were transformed into a unique entertainment venue while maintaining the hoarse stalls, barn door and original cobblestone floor. Each of the 8 stalls are distinctively designed individual chambers equipped with iron bar sliding doors to offer a bit of exclusivity and soft seating like couches makes this a popular joint for groups. In addition to an extensive martini list and walk-in well stocked humidor you’ll find drink specials always in view listed on the mirror behind the bar. Full and late night menus are available to accommodate dinner or a late night snack. Entertainment is offered 5 days a week which means you can sing your heart out on a Tuesday or dance the night away on a Thursday! An antique beer wagon with multiple barrels on it serve as a backdrop for talented local bands. When weather corporates the barn doors are opened giving it an open and airy feel or head out to the patio equipped with a fire pit and outdoor bar. Midland Street is as rich in history as it is fun! In 1865 Midland, MI was a 2 day journey, in an effort to expedite travel a plank road was built that lead to Midland, MI... Hence the name Midland street ;) It changes to Bay City road in Midland! The property this historical treasure resides on formerly belonged to lumber barons Henry Sage & Henry McGraw who established what would be documented as the largest 19th century lumbering facility. While it was the last building to be constructed on this street in 1916 it was the most substantial in size. While it opened as Farmers Auto & Machinery Co. it has since been the home of multiple different business. Since this place serves the best Appletini I've ever had and hosts my favorite bands I hope it remains for years to come!

Located on the brink of the historical Center Avenue, The Delta College Planetarium presents a more modern and futuristic image, offering a balance of entertainment along with education. This revolutionary structure with very distinctive award winning architecture has become a Bay City icon that commands the crowds with sold out shows to this day. The state-of-the-art Domed Theater is literally the “center of attention” as you’ll notice its location being in the actual center of the NASA funded facility. An intentional design meant to represent the sun as it’s in the center of our solar system. In fact, each design element from the shape and color of the building inside and out, to the décor, even the shape of the windows, and names of each area were well thought out details in an effort to represent astronomy and space exploration. Keep your fingers crossed for clear skys on observation nights as you head out on the rooftop observation deck. The gift shop has freeze dried meals and other unique items. Check out their website for show times and special events!

While designed as a "paint your own pottery" studio- you don't have to be an artist to enjoy! My circles have sides and I enjoy myself on every visit! The relaxing ambiance accommodates a wide variety of folks seeking relaxing entertainment outside of the usual movie or bar. Have a group you'd like to get together with? This is the perfect place to reconnect and bond over admiration of the unexpected artist or have some laughs at your creation :) Have some downtime by yourself? Perfect! Relax and enjoy your own company as you create your own one of a kind work of art! Looking for a place to go with your special someone where you can talk and hear each other? Painting and pottery can be very romantic :) In addition to pottery to paint you can choose to create a mosaic glass piece instead! I'd be happy to show you this piece upon your arrival :)

Frankenmuth Sightseeing & Tours

15 German-Lutheran missionaries are responsible for this town founded in 1845. Franken depicts the province from which the settlers came and Muth means courage in German. Now nicknamed "little Bavaria" has now become home to a little rock band you may have heard of when watching the grammies called Greta Van Fleet! There's always events and festivals going on... our favorite is the Dog Bowl, Michigan's Big Country Fest, and snowfest. A popular favorite is Oktober Fest

It's always Christmas time at the WORLDS LARGEST Christmas store :) Yes... in the WORLD! The store offers almost 30,000 sq feet of Christmas spirit. What started as a 2 man band, Wally Bronner and his sole employee Eddie Beyerlein were decorating main street windows and lampposts for Christmas to what evolved into a destination visited by over 2 million people per year! This building has been the home to Bronner's since 1977. The store is cool but the story behind it of a 16 year old boy who started his business that evolved into this despite having a formal education makes this a place you want to see even if you're NOT a fan of Christmas :) You'll find a theater that interviews the Bronner family which is a way to really see how "the American Dream" evolved.

Founded in 1921 by Italian immigrant Mariano Meconi you'll often see their slogan "Italian roots, Michigan soil." Their dedication to using ONLY fruit grown in Michigan, along with the names and bottle covers proves their passion for our great state of Michigan. If I'm being honest- I'm not a "wine drinker" per say however I look forward to stopping HERE first ;) The tasting room is rustic and quint- knowledgeable staff and affordable wine. They have added ciders and brandy's to their tasting menu as well! I'm a "sweet" wine drinker, reds, whites, blush, I'm equal opportunity as long as it's sweet :) Grab some sparkling white grape juice for the under age or enjoy yourself! If you can't make it to the tasting room- it's ok- You can get this brand at the local grocer that's only 5 min away :)
