Food Scene

This is more than a restaurant. It has a resident chef that will modify anything on the menu to suit your needs. It has a wonderful outdoor dining area, and a spacious indoor space. The cook is not only an excellent cook, but a phenominal baker. Omnivore, Vegetarian, Vegan or Gluten Free - there will always be something for you here.

If you are hear on a Friday - order their Fish Tacos (bread/fried version). They VERY VERY yummy (though mine are better -hehe). This is the place to come when you want a traditional New Mexico Style dinner, sit under the stars in their outdoor patio area, and listen to live music - usually a guitarist.

You've got only $10 in your pocket and you want something that will fill you up but gratify your food sense. O'Ramen is the place to go. Order their least expensive bowl - $8 Ramen with Tofu or Vegtables, and - my goodness, if you don't report satisfaction - I'll put extra veggies in your omelette!.

Holy Smokes! The only folks that come to this restaurant - that doesn't even need to be open on Saturday and Sunday because it's M-F regulars are just what they need ... is where you need to go for an authentic plate of Enchiladas with Red Chile and and easy over egg (!!!) ... and don't forget an order of Sopapillas with Honey.

The first time I went to the Orchid, I ordered their half-pinnapple with shrimp. The next time, I went with my ex-sister-in-law, and we ordered the same dish with chicken. Both times, the result was exceptional. As exceptional as their basil tofu! You can't miss - whatever your food regimen - to get something satisfying from the Orchid.

Neighborhoods

This is our neighborhood. You can walk to unm or walk west to Bandelier Elementary school for a nice bit of exercise. We do suggest going when it’s already light out and don’t really recommend walking at night.

Hiking

The La Luz trail, the foothill trails, and the various trails on the east side of the sandia mountains are all very nice. Even if you don’t walk/run the entire trail you can make a nice out and back out of it. The east side of the mountain is much greener than the west and we suggest you check out both.
