The old city centre is the must visit off Utrecht. The canal's are just like Amsterdam but without the tourist. Make sure to also visit the 'Nieuwe grachts'. Just keep walking and it's easy to find the nice quiet corners of our beautifull city.

One of the best ways to see Utrecht is from the water. But don't get a watercycle (looks fun, but is very slow)! Get a canoe, it will get you around much quicker.

Busses are the fastest way around
100 meters from my place is a busstop from where every 5 minutes a bus leaves to the station.
Take bus 28 and pass the station to get dropped of right in the centre (Neude or Vredenburg)

Get an OV chipcard. You can get them at any station or airport. You can use it on all the public transportation and you will instantly pay the lowest local prices.

Get a free bike with your OV chipcard
Get a free bike (24 hours) with your OV chipcard. Follow the bike signs on the station to rent a bike for very cheap (nothing). For more than 24 hours you pay just a few euro. So don't get them at commercial rental companies.

Book museums in Amsterdam in advance online.
If you want to visit any of the major musea in Amsterdam, make sure you book them online beforehand. This will save you a lot of time waiting in line.
You can also do this for most big meseums in Utrecht, but since the are less popular, it is not needed as much.

See the old centre
Go past the commercial centre and visit the quiet old centre. Go the 'Museumkwartier' and visit the 'Nieuwe gracht'. It is like small Amsterdam without the massive amount of tourist.

In front of my house it's paid parking from monday till saturday. But just a 2 minute walk away it's free parking. So park you car in: Spinozaplantsoen or Bonistraat.
