Ways to spend a few hours nearby to break up the beach time!
This is lots of enjoyment no matter what age! For children, its great fun to cover yourselves in sticky volcanic mud and become a mud monster, and for adults, its a great way to get a natural spa skin treatment the Fijian way, followed by a soak in the natural hot spring.

The biggest Hindu Temple in the South Pacific, very interesting to walk around with a local Pundit who can provide stories about the different Hindu Gods, there is also a vegetarian restaurant that provides good vegetairian curries at very reasonable prices which also helps to maintain the temple.

Take a leisurely drive along Queens Highway through the hills to Sigatoka, stop off at the Sigatoka Sand Dunes, a protected heritage site where the Fiji Sevens Rugby Team trained for the first Rugby Sevens Olympics then further along the coast road to Sigtoka Town, then onward to the Kula Wild Adventure Park where there are a number of local birds including the Kula and walkways, or even a little further to Maui Jetty where you can explore the amazing rock pools on low tide.

Try some local cuisine at TU's Place, which has a good island food feel, with Fiji serving sizes or check out Sitar for a curry. There are generally a lot of places to grab a bite to each around this area with the Cinema complex, there are even more small cafes/takeaways. Feeling like a dance then Ed's Bar is probably the most well known!
