These islands are a must see. Isole Borromee are three small islands: Isola Madre, Isola dei Pescatori and Isola Bella. Isola dei Pescatori is the one with the better restaurants, so we recommend to visit it between the other two for a lunch break that you will remember forever. Isola Madre has an admission fee and is the most unspoiled of the three islands. Last but not least, on Isola Bella you will see the most amazing palace with a breathtaking garden. The combined ticket to Isola Madre and Isola Bella costs € 24,00. The islands can be reached by ferry, you can find prices and timetables in every ports (Intra, Pallanza, Villa Taranto, Baveno, Carciano, Stresa). https://www.isoleborromee.it/en/ https://www.navigazionelaghi.it/

You can reach Sacro Monte of the Holy Trinity at Ghiffa by walking through a path that starts right in front of Casa Frino! Sacro Monte stands at the foot of Mount Carciago in a magnificent position dominating Lake Maggiore. It is an unfinished Baroque complex inspired by the ideas of San Carlo Borromeo and the architectural models of the Sacri Monti of Orta and Varese. The protected nature reserve comprises an extensive woodland area with a heritage of rich flora and fauna. Varied and of great beauty are the themed footpaths that guide a visit to this reserve: there is a well-equipped fitness trail, and you will find some intriguing traces of ancient settlements as well as evidence of the religious traditions of the past.

The Parco Pallavicino is famous above all for the over 50 species living here. Many of the animals were already here when the management of the park was taken over by the Borromeos in 2017, such as the zebras, kangaroos, coatis, sarus cranes and flamingos. Pallavicino welcomes animals that could no longer survive in their natural habitat, either because they were born in captivity or because abandonment or an incident has caused them permanent traumas. https://www.isoleborromee.it/parco-pallavicino/

At the top of the Cable car one can take the new Chair lift to the summit with beautiful views as far as the Po valley, of seven surrounding Lakes and the Alps at 360°! Work in progress. Text me if you'd like to know more about!
You can start from Bracchio or from Ompio. From Bracchio: (Disl. 518 m) A mule track that starts from the town of Bracchio will lead you to Vercio. Among the excursions in the Verbano area that must surely be done at least once, we find the ascent to Vercio. The walk lasts about 3 hours in total. Although the path is wide and easy to travel, we would advise you to take it easy as the path is entirely uphill. How to get there? To reach the beginning of the path is simple: just follow the signs for the town of Mergozzo and from there take the direction for Bracchio. In Bracchio it is possible to park the car and crossing the town you get to take the path to Vercio. From Ompio: By car, follow the signs for Santino and Rovegro, paying attention to a fork that turns on the left, where it is possible to meet the first sign indicating Cicogna and follow it to the first crossroads that shows the indications for Alpe Ompio. The road is always asphalted and in excellent condition up to Alpe Ruspesso (937 m) where you can leave your car in a small parking lot next to the first of the signs. The path to Vercio starts right next to the sign of the Val Grande Park, in the meadows to the left of the road that leads to the Fantoli refuge, marked by an arrow clearly visible. After a few steps, slightly uphill, you immediately come to a crossroads, you have to keep left. From this moment it is practically impossible to make a mistake because the path does not allow distractions and goes into the forest on a level ground, between valleys and rocky ridges to be overcome without particular difficulties. At a bend in the path, Vercio appears suddenly in the trees, in normal conditions it does not take more than 40 minutes for the walk, almost completely in the shade and with a spectacular arrival point. For those who are already familiar with the mountains and love long walks, it is possible to reach both Monte Faiè and Vercio in a single excursion. A ring route will take you from Ompio to Monte Faiè then to the top of Vercio and finally to Vercio. From Vercio follow the signs again for Ompio. I recommend the Rifugio Fantoli in Ompio, for an excellent mountain lunch.

The walk to Monte Faiè is one of the most popular excursions for both residents and tourists who come to Verbania to spend their holidays between the lake and mountain walks. How to get there? Reaching the starting point is very simple: from Verbania you must follow the signs for Bieno, then those for Santino and Rovegro and, finally, for the Alpe Ompio. The road continues for a few kilometers and ends in Ruspesso. There you can leave your car and continue on foot along the path. The total travel time is approximately 2 hours. In just a few minutes you can reach Ompio and the Fantoli Refuge, of which you can find information at this link http://www.rifugiofantoli.it/it/. From the Refuge continue to Monte Faiè from whose top you can see the 5 lakes which extend over the territory of Piedmont and Lombardy. Below us we will see Lake Mergozzo, on the left the Borromeo Gulf and its islands of Lake Maggiore. In the background, however, Lake Orta and the lakes of Varese and Monate.

It is a simple, easy-to-walk path. You can start the walk from the center of Mergozzo and head towards Montorfano or start from the foot of Montorfano, the large block of granite that houses the quarry that stands out in the middle of the Fondotoce plain, next to it, at the Verbania-Pallanza railway station. From the station follow the signs for Montorfano. Continue for a short stretch on the paved road and then reach the indications for the Blue Path. The one hour journey runs along the north side of Montorfano above the railway line.

In just under an hour's walk, Monte Spalavera will offer you a wonderful view of the other peaks of the area and Lake Maggiore. This walk is ideal both in summer and during spring and autumn. From Mount Spalavera you can also enjoy a splendid view of the Swiss shore of Lake Maggiore. Mount Spalavera can be reached by crossing a section of the Cadorna line, a military road built during the First World War. The path, designed by General Luigi Cadorna was intended to protect Italian territory from possible attacks across the Alps during the First World War. How to get there? The path starts from Alpe Colle. To get to Colle da Verbania just follow the signs for Vignone, Premeno (from which it is easy to get to one of the most beautiful panoramic points on the lake) and reach Piancavallo. Those who decide to reach the beginning of the path by car can park directly at Alpe Colle.

Pian Cavallone is one of the best known destinations in the area, famous not only for its splendid view, but also for the now traditional "chestnut" that usually takes place in the first half of October. How to get there? To reach Pian Cavallone there are several paths that start from different points of the territory. When we go to Pian Cavallone we usually choose the following path. From Verbania follow the signs first for Cambiasca and then for Miazzina. From Miazzina continue to the Cappella Fina area where you can park your car. How to get there? From Verbania follow the same indications to reach Pian Cavallone. The first part of the path is the same as that of Pian Cavallone. Once you reach the second chapel, take the path on the left, towards Pizzo Pernice.
