This general store will bring you back with a vintage decor, lovely wooden architecture, and fine selection of local vegetables and general needs. The deli and home-made ice cream are awesome.

Delicious Latin-American cuisine and bar with cozy seating (read: the place is small but has some of the best food in town). Very unfussy atmosphere. I highly recommend the tacos and empanadas.

Sightseeing

Easy to challenging hiking trails with fantastic vistas. For a more challenging hike, look up Jesse Girard Trail or Henry Buck Trail. For something a little easier, try the Elliot Bronson Trail. If you came for the classic New England fall foliage, this is the place to go.

Activities

Duckpin bowling is an activity that most people have never tried. This variation on traditional bowling sprang up in the late 1800s in New England. Laurel Lanes brings the duckpin experience to you in a renovated building that the family has owned for many years in Winsted. Great for bowling fans, families, and groups!

Jones Mountain is a loop trail with a lovely view of Route 44 in New Hartford. This hike is moderate in difficulty (at least for me). The entire loop only takes about 1 hour, but you'll get in some great cardio on this lightly trafficked trail.
