It is the southernmost suburb of the Perth Metropolitan Area and is actually closer to the regional city Mandurah than either Perth CBD or Rockingham. There is a petrol station at the entrance to SIngleton, a small shopping centre, comprising of a Bakery, Deli, Chinese restaurant & Pizza cafe and a primary school and 2 daycare facailities. And recently open Singleton Village, which is home to a Woolworths store, Bakery, Barber, Hair & Nail salons. Singleton also home to Laurie Stanford reserve, which consists two senior soccer pitches, two central synthetic cricket wickets, four-bay synthetic practice cricket nets, floodlighting, AFL goals, a skate park, and half-court basketball. Bench seating is scattered around the oval. This venue is a training ground for junior and senior soccer and cricket. It is adjacent to the Singleton Sports and Community Centre and home of the Peel Junior Soccer Association and Singleton Irwinians Cricket Club.

The course, designed by Robert Trent Jones Jnr., presents a highly regarded test for players but is also renowned for its playability. During its short history the West Australian Open Championship has been held at Meadow Springs on seven occasions. Measuring 6189 metres from the blue tees, the golf course promises a unique experience through open bush land, the layout dictated by the natural features of the land. Towering 200 year old Tuart trees line generous fairways and subtly rolling greens. Few holes run parallel enhancing the sensation of being alone in the wilderness. The first class practice facilities include a day/night driving range, putting & chipping green and three practice bunkers.

In 1973 the first Shiraz vines were planted, followed by Chenin Blanc and Zinfandel in 1976, and Cabernet Sauvignon in 1979. Other varieties such as Chardonnay, Verdelho, Cabernet Franc and the traditional Portuguese Port Varieties were planted in 1980.
