Sightseeing

Really close to apartment, amaizing park, where is outdoor sport facilitys, nature, lot of space, dog arena and much more :) Locals love it! About history: Once called 1905 Revolution Park due to its perceived connection to the failed uprising, this natural sand dune officially became a park in 1902 when a local beer magnate built a restaurant, theater and amusement park here. It became particularly popular with the local factory workers and their families who lived in the surrounding area. Sadly, retreating Russian troops razed all of its buildings, save one, in 1917, but the park was rebuilt in a different style in the late 1920s only to be destroyed again during WWII. The occupying Nazis even used part of the park as a POW camp for Soviet troops and the Soviets later built a top secret military bunker here. Today it’s a good place for a walk and it’s also home to basketball courts. A monument to 1905 revolutionaries can be found at the corner of Pērnavas and Jāņa Asara streets

HOW TO GET TO SEA BEACH (VECĀĶI) (20 min train ride) Go from the apartments to the right, to the Zemitani train station, it will be max. 8 minutes on foot. Then at the station you need to buy a ticket (0.76 €, one way) to "Vecaki", if you want an unpublic and quieter beach with nice walk through the forest (10 min.) then buy a ticket to "Kalngale" which is one stop further from "Vecaki". You can also buy a train ticket from conductor at train, which will cost a few cents more. You can also buy tickets in both directions if you want.

Between Čaka, Matīsa and Artilērijas streets Hemmed in by a number of streets including Riga’s main artery Čaka iela, this park was created in the second half of the 1930s. Several old buildings were demolished to make room for this 6.4h plot of land that is now home to rows of linden trees, decorative hedges, pedestrian walkways, a fountain, a playground and a monument dedicated to writer Aleksandrs Čaks. Although you’ll see plenty of mothers and grannies pushing prams here during the day, it’s probably not the safest place to visit after dark. Between Čaka, Matīsa and Artilērijas.

It is worth visiting this club, also exploring this area where close to each other is also the beer brewery with bar, hip hop club ONE ONE, alternative music bar NEMIERS and night burger DELISNACK etc. Its a popular part of Rigas nightlife, where party goes on throughout all week (except Sundays). I would recommend going on Wednesday nights to PIENS- they have wine specials- 2 euros per glass and they have a DJ sets. Get there early tho because the place gets really busy. Wednesday 11am–6am Thursday 11am–2am Friday 11am–4am Saturday 11am–1am Sunday Closed Monday 11am–12am Tuesday 11am–1am
