Stop by commons beach to let the kids play at the playground, picnic, or go on a walk or bike ride on the paved path around the lake. (In summer it can be crowded! We recommend the private beach then. :))

Déplacements

Driving in Snow

Always carry chains! You will need them on the neighborhood streets in the wintertime. Bring the 4WD car if you have one. Go very slowly (5mph) down any hills and stay very, very far behind cars. When going uphill, wait until the car in front of you has made it to the top and then maintain a constant speed to keep up traction...don’t stop!

Bear Safety

We have lots of bears in Tahoe! If you see one, don’t stop or get out of the car. If you are already outside, don’t make any sudden movements, make yourself large, make noise, and back away slowly! Never leave even a bite of food or snacks in your car...the bears will break in! Keep house doors and windows shut and locked at all times.
Déplacements

Traffic

Check the weather forecasts for Tahoe City and Truckee to understand when the storms are hitting. Try to get in and out beforehand and when the roads are clear. Traffic is the worst on Friday and Sunday evenings. Bring chains, water, warm clothes, a snow scraper, and some audiobooks for the trip. Drive safely and be kind!
