The Helsinki area is divided into zones A, B and C. Usually an AB ticket is sufficient as it covers all of central Helsinki and also many surrounding areas. You cannot buy tickets on trains, trams or the underground. You can buy a single ticket on the bus from the driver. Single tickets are always cheapest to buy beforehand at a machine, on the HSL mobile app or at an R Kioski.

Most shopping centers have a space where you can change diapers or have your kid go potty. Many places also have kids' play areas. There are also public outdoor playgrounds all over Helsinki.

Bottles are recyclable!

Don't throw away bottles and cans, and don't crush them. They can be returned to any store at a bottle returns machine and you will get a small deposit back for each bottle and can. If you can't be bothered, just leave the bottles at the apartment and we'll return them to the store after your stay.
