This spot is a favourite - the ocean runs into the lake. Great for families, shallow waters and then deeper further around for bigger kids who can jump off rocks or boogie board the tide coming in...sometimes there are sand dunes to slide now into the water too. Cafe and shady areas with a playground. Happy days!!!

Kings beach is fantastic (it’s the one we go to most as a family - kids love it) . It has a bit more wave action. There is also a pool on the edge of the beach, and water spouts for kids to run through. There are play grounds, grassy areas to sit under the shade and free BBQs to use. You can also walk to Bulcock beach along the board walk (takes 10minutes).

Swimming Holes

Freshwater swimming holes and falls.
Gardner falls Maleny is our families favourite swimming hole. Take the short cut up Brandenburg road (part dirt road and cows) and head up towards Maleny. Only a 10-15 minute drive and so so worth it. Only a short walk and you’ll see small swimming holes for younger kids and then a bigger one further up with jumps and rope swings...so much fun, (make sure your kids hang on tight to the swings and that they don’t let go early). Take the floaty noodles with you. The small jump is my fav. Beautiful waterfall to see, and grassy area to sit on - cover all food as the bush turkeys are watching. After your swim drive into the centre of Maleny for a look.

Montville is a gorgeous hinterland town full of cute shops and cafes. Make sure you visit Kondalilla falls and pack your swimmers. Its a great place to swim, and if your keen on bush walking continue along the circuit - it winds down deep into the rainforest floor and take approximately 2.5 hours. Finish with lunch or dinner in montvile or drive to Maleny nearby.

5 minutes drive out of Mooloolah, next to the BMX track is the local swimming hole ‘Ewan Maddock Dam’. No need to go to the Landsborough side. Fabulous spot for a refreshing swim, has a picnic area and BBQs, small playground and walking tracks. Take the swimming noodles in the garage. Currently the dam is closed to swimming.
