Food scene

Excellent wood fire pizzas! We recommend the Pirilo Pizza, with sweet plantains and local cheese... or the Basilico pizza, which has manchego with honey and walnuts (I know, random but delicious).

This is a super close breakfast place. Good prices, clean, tasty, and with a great staff. It is also a wonderful lunch alternative.

Ok. This is the place to eat in Old San Juan. Yes, a chocolate bar with lots of chocolate options and amazing chocolate drinks. Trust me. Visit. It's a 40 minute drive, but then you can walk off the calories in the streets of Old San Juan.

You want to try the best mojito in the world? Well, they have the best two! Coconut and passion fruit mojitos. Amazing! And it's only a 5 minute drive from us. Plus, this spot is constantly hosting live musicians, dancers, parties, etc. And the food is local and delicious. Enjoy!

Less than 15 minutes from the house... this is a great, always open, always tasty, local favorite. We love all the mofongos on the menu, the plantain crusted grouper with coconut sauce, and the churrasco (skirt stake). The place is clean, the food is flavorful, and the atmosphere chill. Buen Provecho.

Local Beaches

It's wild and beautiful and you can see fish, and it's safe, but it’s crazy and yes... you should visit. This is not tourist trap, it's a real Puerto Rican beach experience.

A 15 minute drive gets you to the Puerto Nuevo beach. It's a fun local spot with lots of fun local people. Make sure you climb all the way to the Puertorican flag at the top of the hill (you'll know when you visit). Easy parking, easy access.

This is our local beach. A great spot for an afternoon swim. We love visiting around 3pm. The crowds start to leave, and the water is perfect temperature. Plus, if you stick a around few hours, you will get to see an amazing sunset. Just GPS CERRO GORDO and park around. Bring cash for parking / snacks.

This is one of the top beaches in the whole world. Always in the top 5! Oh yes, it is far. You have to drive 90 minutes, then take a boat, the walk a bunch. But oh, it is soooo very worth it. An easier way to go is to book a Catamaran Snorkeling Tour at https://www.eastislandpr.com/tours/culebra-snorkeling-tour/ which includes the snorkeling gear, the boat, lunch, and unlimited piña coladas.

Sightseeing

The best (and easiest) trail in our Rain Forest. You will drive around an hour to get there, but it is so worth it. You will be under a magnificent waterfall after a short hike, and if you keep hiking up, you will lose the crowds, and see more beautiful spots.

If you love horse, then look no further. This is an amazing horse back riding experience which takes place in a wonderful nature reserve. We recommend the sunset ride. Your horse will enjoy the cooler weather and you cannot beat the view once you get to the ocean. It’s a long tour. You get to get to ride on the beach. And the horses (and the guides) are wonderful companions.

If you're a Hamilton Fan...

This is Lin Manuel Miranda's home town. And in our very humble plaza, Lin Manuel and his family have a great spot for lunch and a small museum with some of his accomplishments from In The Heights, Hamilton, Moana and more. GPS: Mosaic Public Art, Placita de Guisin

Econo

This is the supermarket we recommend. Most of what you will need to buy will be available here. A few minutes away from the campus. Plus, this is where Bad Bunny used to be bagger before he became one of the biggest artists in the world.

Eat Anything In Our Home.

Whatever is in the cupboards and the fridge, is fair game. Food, seasoning, alcohol, etc. The only thing we ask is that if you finish something, you replace it. Gracias.
