Dining and Shopping

Areas within 5 - 10 minute drive from our guesthouse
Only 5 minutes from our home. Parking is abundant. The Pearl District has retail, dining, green space, a riverside amphitheater, and the third campus of The Culinary Institute of America. As a former brewery operating from 1883 to 2001, Pearl reflects a vivid past while embracing the future with environmentally sustainable buildings mixed with historic architecture.

Small bar located near the Alamodome and a short drive from our guesthouse. (I don't recommend walking, as there is a bit of a rough area in between our place and there.) Great food; local beer selections; live music; friendly staff and owner. Combination of local neighborhood folks and visitors staying near downtown area.

Museum Reach - 1.33 mile stretch

Between 5 -10 minute drive from our guesthouse. 1.33-mile stretch featuring San Antonio’s world-famous zoo, the Japanese Tea Gardens, Brackenridge Park, the historic, but funky Pearl District, and three very distinguished, but very different, museums – The Witte, The Doseum and The San Antonio Museum of Art.

The DoSeum (The-Doo-See-Um) is San Antonio’s only museum just for children where kids learn by doing, creating and tinkering—instead of just looking and listening. It is comprised of a series of three, two-story exhibit halls totaling 65,000 square feet. Between each exhibit hall, glass facades create daylight-flooded transitional spaces that connect visitors to the additional 39,000 square feet of outdoor exhibit yards.
